Culturingua's Summer 2021 Arabic Camp is completed!

Exciting news! This past 2021 summer, Culturingua hosted our Arabic Summer Camp in partnership with Advanced Learning Academy (ALA) in SAISD School District. The Arabic Summer Camp focused on teaching youth the language, culture, and arts of the Arab region. Moreover, this was the first summer we hosted a Level Two Arabic Camp for students that had previously taken Level One.

Culturingua is excited to be on of 19 Arab American nonprofit organizations across the U.S that was awarded a grant from the Center for Arab American Philanthropy (CAAP) and the National Network for Arab American Communities (NNAAC) through their 2021 grantmaking round .

Culturingua Receives Grant from San Antonio Area Foundation

Culturingua is excited to be one of 15 non-profits to receive a grant from The San Antonio Area Foundation, in conjunction with Up Partnership, that benefits non-profits in the San Antonio area as part of the first ever Youth Leadership Development grants.

Culturingua Receives Stevens Initiative Funding for Program to Virtually Connect Young People Around the World

Culturingua is excited to be one of 19 virtual exchange programs awarded new grants by the Stevens Initiative. With our fellow grantees, we will reach nearly 19,000 youth participants through virtual exchange. Together, our programs cover 25 topics, including engineering innovation, history, public health, and social entrepreneurship.

Culturingua: Texas winter storm support

03/11/2021

Culturingua, in partnership with Islamic Relief USA, distributed financial support to San Antonio families affected by the winter storm. Last week, they distributed 66 gift cards ($150 each) and hygiene soaps to families whose homes were damaged or were otherwise impacted by the winter storm. In a few weeks, they will distribute more gift cards and hygiene soaps.

San Antonio residents including Arab Americans and other Muslims in the area, ensure they're accounted for, organizers are also holding an art contest for children in Pre-K through 8th grade in collaboration with local non-profit group, Culturingua, which celebrates Middle Eastern, North African and South Asian heritage. Culturingua Partners with Northside ISD and City of San Antonio for a 2020 Census Art Contest to Raise Awareness of the Census

The Culturingua’s 2020 Census Art Contest received 44 submissions from students in Pre-K to Grade 8. Local nonprofit organization Culturingua partnered with Northside Independent School District and the City of San Antonio Immigration Liaison to raise awareness about the importance of completing the 2020 census particularly among immigrants from the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia, many of whom live in the Medical Center area and whose children attend Northside ISD schools. Student Art Contest Aims to Increase Awareness of Census Among Immigrants

Today, Culturingua Partners, Northside Independent School District, and the City of San Antonio will team up to present a 2020 census art contest in an effort to increase awareness of the census before the looming Sept. 30 deadline. The show will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020, at Ali Baba International Food Market located at 9307 Wurzbach Road. Read more.


LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! Theatre-Based Strategies to Promote Proficiency

This session will review how to incorporate theatre into the language classroom to engage students and encourage them to use the target language in creative ways. Participants will experience various techniques first-hand to teach theatre-based language lessons and theatre skills through an Arabic lesson based on the well-known folktale "Sinbad the Sailor."
