Qualifications for CALT program participant:
· Have a minimum of 2 years (maximum of 10yrs) post-resettlement living experience as refugee/immigrant/migrant in U.S.
· In the past 5 years have experienced difficulty in one or more of the following areas: learning English, accessing adequate housing, and/or finding meaningful employment
· Current residence located in the Greater Medical Center area in San Antonio
· At least high school diploma or GED equivalent
· Basic computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Excel
· Fluent English language skills with ability to communicate, read and write
· Close connection to his/her native community with knowledge of community’s activities and events
Expectations for CALT program participant:
· Complete the application process
· Potential applications will be interviewed and up to 10 will be chosen to participate in Cohort #2
· Complete a background check
· Attend 16-hour training sessions (4 Saturdays in October 2025)
· Complete 4 hours of independent assigned work throughout program
· Planning of Community Event (to be organized by each cohort)
· Provide assistance to community members after training completed
· Once training is complete attend monthly meeting (for 6 months) with CALT staff to share community experiences
Compensation is a total of $1800 which will be divided up among the entire training/evaluation process (this amount is based on attendance to all training sessions and 6 monthly meetings after training)
